HAND TUFTED RUGS

The tufting is similar to traditional rug-making methods, but instead of using a loom, the design is created by hand. It’s a type of textile weaving, in which a thread (wool) is inserted on a primary base using a hand tool called a tufting gun. This gun penetrates the stretched base fabric, forming a pile and the height of which is determined by the feeder. This process is repeated until the design is complete.

The yarn is then cut to the desired length, and the end is secured in place using synthetic latex material. With this technique, any type of hand-tufted carpet design can be created by altering the density.
